The IoT Systems Research Team is involved in multiple undergraduate and graduate courses encompassing various notions of telecommunications, informatics and electronics. At the moment we are teaching the following courses
Winter courses (Z – semesters)
Microcontrollers in Wireless Systems (Mikrokontrolery w systemach transmisji bezprzewodowej – MSTB)
The course deals with microcontrollers use in wireless communication systems. It deals with practical side of radio transmission implementation for IoT purposes using modern microcontrollers and radio modules. See more (in Polish)
4th and 5th Generation Cellular Systems (Systemy komórkowe 4 i 5 generacji – SYK45)
The course deals with modern 4th and 5th Generation Cellular Systems (including LTE and 5G). The course goes through the basics of HSPA, LTE and 5G putting emphasis on the novel solutions and technologies. See more (in Polish)
Fundamentals of Wireless Communication (Podstawy transmisji bezprzewodowej – PTB)
The course provides the basics necessary for efficient use of radio devices in IoT systems. It introduces a brief overview of the wireless channel, digital modulation techniques, an overview of a wireless link architecture, transmitter and receiver components responsible for RF signals processing. Important part of the course is dedicated to modern transmission techniques: spread spectrum, OFDM and MIMO. Basics of their implementation, advantages and limitations are presented and discussed. The final part of the course deals with wireless networking topics. It starts with description of multiple access schemes followed by radio resource management. Finally, main wireless standards, their features and applications are briefly presented. See more (in Polish)

IoT radio interfaces (Interfejsy radiowe systemów Internetu Rzeczy – IRI)
The course deals with modern IoT radio transmission standards and interfaces. It describes the specifics of radio transmission in IoT networks and popular standards. See more (in Polish)
Radioelectronic Measurements (Pomiary w radioelektronice – POR)
The scope of the course covers basic aspects of measurements of radioelectronic signals and circuits. It is mainly focused on methods and techniques for spectrum analysis, vector signal analysis, immitance and transfer function measurements. Noise measurements as well as measurements of nonlinear properties of the object are also presented. Laboratory exercises provide knowledge on basic features, limitations and operation principles of contemporary measuring instrumentation. See more (in Polish)
Basics of Cellular Systems (Podstawy systemów komórkowych – PSK)
The course deals with digital cellular systems fundamentals. It describes basics of GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, LTE systems. Presented topics cover: services, system architectures, functionality of network elements, design of radio interfaces, radio resource management, mobility management and communication management procedures. Future trends in networks evolution (LTE Advanced, 5G systems) are also presented. Laboratory exercises create opportunity to investigate real radio interface signals, basic mobility management and communication procedures and measurement of GSM mobile stations. UMTS & LTE Systems (ULTE)
The course covers advanced topics in the area of third generation cellular system UMTS. It provides information on wide range of aspects concerning UMTS system: architecture, radio interface solutions, system procedures, equipment, network planning etc. Laboratory exercises help to extend knowledge on radio interface features, techniques of radio signal measurements as well as on speech codecs. Ultra-Wideband Technology (TUSP)
The aim of the course is the preparation of students to implement ultrawideband technology in telecommunications, positioning and imaging applications. After completing the course students will have knowledge on theoretical basics of UWB technology, knowledge on principles of UWB devices design, ability to use this technology, ability to measure and evaluate UWB signals.
